Our mission

Our purpose

Mountains

To inspire people to take care of themselves daily, according to principles that are healthy and environmentally responsible.

How do we make our products ?

We use a semi-handmade production approach: Most steps are done by hand and others by machines. Why do we do this? Because it was no longer viable to keep a manual production due to the increase in demand.

Everything is done in Quebec, from the conception of the product to its marketing. The production is made in Kahnawake. It is Brigitte, the co-founder of SUUM, who carries out a large part of the artisanal production herself.

The production method is divided into 5 steps;

1 - The preparation and pooling of the ingredients.

2 - We then mix our ingredients with the oils until we reach the stage of the "trace". We stir the solution until we obtain a more consistent and solid result, hence the name "trace".

3 - We then pass this new mixture to the extruder (a kind of compressor), which crushes the material and presses it very hard to form beautiful rectangular bars that will be cut later. The extruder is the only machine we use during the whole process.

4 - After compression, we let the soaps rest on racks to harden.

5 - Once hardened, our products are ready to be packaged and used!

Our ingredients;

• All ingredients are natural or organic

No artificial agents

• No parabens, palm oil, synthetic substances or beeswax

• Although we are not certified Vegan, our ingredients are purely plant-based.

• We work very hard with our suppliers to ensure that our ingredients are "animal cruelty free"We work very hard with our suppliers to ensure that our ingredients are "animal cruelty free"

Our main ingredient: Clay

All of our soaps are made with a clay base that optimizes its moisturizing properties. Each clay is chosen for a particular reason, some of them have detox properties, others have soothing properties for the skin.

Other ingredients we use;

Specific ingredients, such as sea buckthorn (present in our product #6) and calendula flowers (present in our product #0) are carefully chosen to increase the softness of our soaps.

All soaps have a very high proportion of olive oil, which also contributes to the hydration of the skin.

How does our biodegradable packaging work ?

Beyond recycling !

• Our paper can dissolve easily in contact with water. It is made with water-based ink and non-toxic glue. This makes our packaging 100% biodegradable. Zero impact for the environment!

• Our packaging is recognized by North America's "green" environmental standards, such as FSC, GMP and SQF certifications.

• Our delivery boxes come from Cascades and respect the strictest environmental standards.

SUUM's story

The first steps

Brigitte has been concocting her personal products for a few years. Inhabited by the curiosity of making natural soap, she signed up for a workshop in 2017 to learn how. She fell in love! She knows what kind of soap she wants to make and experiments until she gets her "satisfactory" version!

She signed up as an exhibitor at a Christmas market for the month of December 2017 and spent the fall producing her varieties of soap, melts and bath salt. That's when it all started...

The team expands

During the year 2018, his son Jean-Sébastien takes an active part in the project and together they review the business model and objectives to concretize the company's identity.

Taking charge of the company's strategy and marketing, he will take care of promoting SUUM throughout the Quebec market to introduce their famous water-soluble packaging products.
